OUR LEGACY - Founded in the late 1940s, the Friends of the Hospital operated a small hospital shop staffed by volunteers. The shop offered items that patients might need during their hospital stay. Over time, the organisation expanded its activities to include various forms of fundraising and community events such as street parades, Christmas concerts, and lights in the hospital and surrounding grounds. Funds raised were generally allocated to benefit patients, including purchasing specialised beds, window blinds, and, at times, specific pieces of medical equipment. More recently, the organisation has focused on supporting local health and community projects through its fundraising efforts.
